Investiture of the Grand Priory of South Africa
Saturday 24th April 2010
April 2010 was indeed also a very important date for the constant activities being carried out in South Africa on behalf of the Order of Saint Lazarus. The Supreme Grand Priory of the Order, headed by the Supreme Grand Prior, H.E. Richard Comyns of Ludston GCLJ GCMLJ, honoured the Grand Priory of South Africa by promoting its long serving Grand Prior to the exalted position of Grand Marshal of the Supreme Grand Priory.
Indeed, this promotion came as a complete surprise to the Grand Prior of South Africa, H. E. Steven Groneveld GCLJ, who was, in the meantime, busy ensuring that the ritual for the South African postulants, which included his lady wife, would be all 'ship shape'.
The Grand Prior of South Africa is a Commander of the South African Navy and has been constantly working very hard in order to spread the philanthropic and Hospitaller work of the Order in this region.
On behalf of the Supreme Grand Priory, we wish Chev. Groneveld and his lady wife and family all the best for the future and, indeed, more work on behalf of the Order of Saint Lazarus in South Africa.
