Harmonious and mutually beneficial working relationship with the
Federation of Autonomous Priories of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem (December 2010)
The Grand Priory of Hungary of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus includes a number of its officers who are also very active members and officers of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. Due to this long-established synergy between our chivalric organizations, it was suggested to the Supreme Grand Priory of the Order that a number of meetings be held between the Grand Officers of our Orders in order to establish concrete Hospitaller projects which could be jointly undertaken by both chivalric organizations.
These meetings were led by, on the one part, the Grand Chancellor of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, Massimo J Ellul and, on the other part by the Lieutenant General of the Sovereign Order of Saint John, Count George Popper. Both sides agreed to a number of strategic decisions related to joint Hospitaller work and both sides also agreed to attend each other’s events and investitures in official deputations of the respective Orders.
Presently, a shipment of more than Euros 400,000 worth of medicinal aid is being organized in order to support and assist the Order’s Grand Priory of the Congo. Furthermore, in a meeting held between the Grand Officers of both chivalric organizations and chaired by the Supreme Grand Prior, H.E. Richard Comyns of Ludston, a number of accolades were mutually bestowed on each side’s Grand Officers, which formally underlines the synergy being implemented by both sides to mutually assist each other in Hospitaller operations throughout the world.
